Free Burgers for U.S. Military Based in Kuwait
CARPINTERIA, Calif., April 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CKE Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: CKR), parent company of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's quick-service restaurants, announced today that it will offer free cheeseburgers to U.S. troops based in Kuwait. Coupons will be distributed through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Kuwait beginning April 11. They can be redeemed at the Hardee's restaurants located in Kuwait.
"Our troops in Iraq have demonstrated courage and restraint under incredible pressure. We felt that the best way to express our appreciation and to help compensate for time spent away from family and country was to give them a taste of home," said Andrew F. Puzder, president and CEO of CKE Restaurants, Inc. "We hope these burgers will bring back great memories of the U.S., and that all our troops will be home soon."
Hardee's has been operating in the region for more than 25 years. More than 130 Hardee's restaurants are located in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt and Jordan.

As of the end of the third quarter on Nov. 1, 2004, CKE Restaurants, Inc., through its subsidiaries, had a total of 3,183 franchised or company-owned restaurants in 44 states and in 13 countries, including 1,017 Carl's Jr.(R) restaurants, 2,047 Hardee's(R) restaurants and 101 La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill(R) restaurants.
